Incision-to-delivery interval and neonatal wellbeing ...

Mar 01, 2008 · CONCLUSION: A longer skin incision-to-delivery interval in cesarean birth does not compromise neonatal acid-base balance. Similarly, a longer interval between hysterotomy and delivery of the fetus is not associated with a variation of indicators of neonatal wellbeing. Awareness of this fact could give the surgeon more tranquility and help to prevent part of the iatrogenic complications associated with cesarean delivery.Author: Fontanarosa M, Fontanarosa N

During general anesthesia, induction-to-delivery intervals of more than 8 minutes and uterine incision-to-delivery intervals of more than 3 minutes were associated with significantly more instances of neonatal acidosis (umbilical artery pH 7.31 versus 7.22) and a greater incidence of low 1-min Apgar scores (4% versus 73%).Author: Datta S, Ostheimer Gw, Weiss Jb, Brown Wu, Alper Mh

There was no difference in neonatal outcomes between the first and fifth quintiles for operating room‐to‐incision intervals. General anaesthesia is associated with the most rapid operating room‐to‐incision interval for category‐1 caesarean section, but is also associated with worse short term neonatal outcomes.Author: E. Jun 02, 2001 · The interval between decision and delivery in these cases was 18, 25, 30, 30, and 77 minutes. One baby had signs of hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy with fits. The mother had had an abruption and the interval between decision and delivery was 20 minutes.Author: Derek J Tuffnell, Kath Wilkinson, Nicola Beresford
