This has been covered in the iphone technical thread. O2 do not support the delvery reports nativly you need to enter 3 digits before the txt of the sms I cannot remember now but if you search the iphone technical thread you will get the answer.

When I used to be on O2 if you wanted a delivery report you had to type *0# (star, zero, hash, space) before your text and then you would receive a text to say it had been delivered. It was a while ago but it worked then, so maybe worth a try.
