Oct 28, 2008 · Most have policies that prohibit their employees from accepting tips. Second, the delivery charge is part of what you have already paid. These people generally aren't expecting a tip. Be friendly, ask if they need anything to drink ect. but tipping is probably unnecessary. And no it is NOT customary in this day and age.

Unless the delivery site (usually any food delivery) specifically states that the delivery fee isn't used as tip, in that case I do tip. I just figure that they weren't working for tips- they do get a paid wage, and tip is just extra. And in all honesty, I usually forget anyway.

Most companies that do such deliveries have a no tipping furniture delivery personnel policy, which will make you feel pretty silly when the furniture delivery person turns down your tip.
