Though we did take the Pacific Whale watch cruise, it is not necessary to take a cruise to see whales you can see them at the major beaches on Maui. We stayed at the Grand Wailea so we were right on the beach. Again all of the beaches were closed due to storms.

Wailea Beach Park is located in the upscale Wailea resort area in south Maui. Wailea Beach has a great location and great views all around and is a pretty large beach with a flattened crescent shape to it.

The Big Beach and Little Beach area is definitely a must see place for anyone visiting Maui. It’s fairly easy to get to. You should be able to locate Makena and Big Beach on most maps of Maui. It’s located just south of the Kihei/Wailea area in South Maui. To get there, take the main road through Wailea south.
