I had a really important package shipped on the 20th via Fedex Ground. The package was scheduled for delivery tomorrow Monday the 27th. I just got an email from Fedex saying they've changed the delivery date to Tuesday the 28th. WHAT GIVES! The package is less than 35 miles from my house. It's been at this facility since Saturday!

But shouldn't FedEx account for scenarios such as this one? Yes, FedEx does. If you scroll down further on tracking, there is a field called "Standard Transit". I have no idea who comes up with the name. This data field is FedEx's estimated delivery date based on the location of the first scan (NJ in this case) instead of the return address.

May 06, 2010 · I told him the situation and asked why it happened and when my package would arrive. He said he didn't know and that my package would be here tomorrow. I guess we will see about that! Moral of the story is that if you want to track your packages don't bother with fedex, and most importantly don't trust their delivery date.
