In my line of work it is always expected for you to work extra hours at certain times of the month/year which I am happy to do. Except sometimes that 2 hours driving is 4hours if further away (and therefore 8hours driving in total that day!)on top of his 8hours of work when there.

Maybe work out what your actual salary is when you work the extra hours to try and motivate you to say NO!! I think I'm going to do that e.g. 2 extra hours = this, 4 extra hours = this.
