I believe one of the follow comparisons should work in Teradata: SELECT Current_Timestamp - CAST(ah.addate AS TimeStamp(6)) DAY (4) TO SECOND(4) AS TimeInterval , Current_Date - CAST(ah.addate AS DATE) DAY(4) AS DayInterval /* May Not be necessary as two dates can be subtracted/added without INTERVAL */ , Current_Date - ah.addate AS ...

Viewed 2k times. 1. I am using below query to subtract 6 hours from a date stamp column - ORDER_PLACED_TS. select (ORDER_PLACED_TS- interval '6' hour) AS NEW_TIME, SO.ORDER_PLACED_TS,SO.* from mytable SO sample 10; Above query returned expected results. Then, I tried replacing 6 with a column Hour_Subtraction_column as below.

Teradata: Subtract Timestamps. Timestamp difference is frequently required operation to determine duration between two events occurred at Time T1 & Time T2. The required duration can be in days, hours, minutes or even in seconds. Lets create a volatile table & populated data for illustration purpose.

If the TimeDateWZControl flag is disabled, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP returns a timestamp constructed from the time value local to the Teradata Database server and the session time zone. For more information, see “DBS Control (dbscontrol)” in Utilities: Volume 1 (A-K) .

The time fields were in different formats, and I couldn't find an easier way in teradata to convert Unix timestamp to Teradata TIMESTAMP. Here's the code, if it is interesting. I wonder if the reverse (i.e. TD TIMESTAMP -> Unix timestamp) would be easier, but I haven't put thought into that.
