"Options -> Delivery Status Notification" when composing a message seems having no result. Is this problem due to sender and/or recipient provider's servers (Gmail) or is this feature not yet implemented in the current alpha of Thunderbird? Jun 20, 2015 · That's why Thunderbird defaults to not displaying remote images by default, to defeat that. It can also be defeated by using view -> message body as -> plain text. You might try using "Options -> Delivery Status Notification" when composing a message to request a DSN receipt instead.

The issue is here is 'Delivery Status Notification' (DSN), i.e. message header 'Return-Receipt-To'. They are 2 different things. The MDN can be ignored by the recipient upon *reading* the message, while the DSN is supposedly responded by the destination mail server. Thunderbird does not even send the email with message header 'Return-Receipt-To'.
