Hi, Had my daughter in the Delivery suite there around 18 months ago. I did get a tour of the Spires where I was intending to give birth as they usually book you into one of your later midwife appointments there if you live in the city. I think there were birthing balls, I took my own towel.

I've never had a baby at the Spires but I have had 4 on delivery suite at JR (most recently in August). In the delivery suite rooms the lights can definitely be lowered, now whether that is by turning off a few or dimming I don't recall but we definitely had the lights low.

I had DD in the JR delivery suite in 2013 and DS in the Spires in December 2015. The contrast between the two experiences was amazing. I had previously tested positive for Group B Strep and in 2013 they advised intravenous antibiotics during labour. The midwives on the delivery suite were good and professional but - shall we say - businesslike.
