Which is fantastic, but still doesn't solve the mystery of packages leaving overseas and Australia Post not having any tracking information (ie not noting it as "arrived, awaiting clearance" or similar). I don't care about small delays caused by clearance, (and don't care about paying duty > $1000) but at least want to know where my parcel is.

I'm awaiting for my parcel that have been shipped from the UAE to adelaid on March 11. I can see on the Australia Post website that the shipment has arrived in Australia on March 17at 5.49am and has the status "International arrival - awaiting clearance" in Sydney. I've received packages from Europe that fly straight to the Perth gateway. Then they process in Perth, scan, go through Perth customs and finally passed to local post to deliver to me. I can see which of my packages go to which gateway when I track. It depends on which country you are receiving the package from as to which gateway.
