Older than the hotel is Quaker Square, a complex of shops and a restaurant. Only two shops remain and the restaurant is generally dead. The silos were built in the 1930 for Quaker Oats and are on the National Register of Historic Places. The entire complex has been sold to the University of Akron and will close in the coming months.
