Posted November 20, 2014. Usually I would recommend a minimum of 24 hours of Prime95, before I declare anything stable. Most people say this is too long, but to me an unstable system is unstable, no matter what. Nova doctrina terribilis sit perdere.

I usually run prime95 after I OC. Blend test in particular is best for checking for overall system stability. I will run this for anywhere from half an hour to couple of hours, but usually no more than 3. If all's well, I will fire up some benchmarking programs like Vantage, Heaven, 3DMark11, etc to see if they will run all the way through.

I've ran Prime95 to stress-test my new box. It runs for an hour or two and then it just crashes. The system doesn't crash, just the program. I've …

It worked first 2 hours perfectly but seems like it crashed during the night. I know 4GHz is almost impossible for first generation Ryzen CPUs but my question is, how long a prime95 test should be? I saw on internet that most people doing it for 20-30 minutes but it seems so short.

In my opinion prime95 needs to be run for a bare minimum of 6 hours. 12-24 hours is preferable. I think a lot of people here will confirm that they have had overclocks fail later in the test (around the 12, 15, or 20 hour marks).

Also it showed a worker thread failed but I did other tests which showed no problems like 5 hours of Prime95 (version 26.6) blend test, 7 hours Memtest 7.4, 1 hour GSAT, 2 hours Prime 95 (version 29.2) blend test, 1 hour OCCT, Intel Burn Test on Very Hard settings. I have since reset Bios settings back to default to remove the CPU overclock.
