The handcraft market is open every day from 9am to 4.30pm and is a good place to pick up some gifts all in the one place. If you want a more authentic and colourful experience, try and plan your trip to visit the market on a Sunday when the local quechua communities set up shop on the main square.

While the market is officially held every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, it has become so popular that it usually takes over the Plaza de Armas and surrounding streets every day of the week. To avoid the worst of the crowds, it is best visited on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday.

The famous grand market opens up every Sunday. Tuesdays and Thursdays are also market days. Every other day of the week it’s “just” a smaller (but still huge) market with the permanent souvenir booths. View along the long aisles of the Pisac market.

The Pisac market is worth a visit for its bargains, colour and smells, I'd recommend at least 2 hours but don't walk away without trying the empanadas!!! Read more Written 12 September 2016

A path leading away from the market towards to the mountain will take you to the start of the ascent which slowly winds up to the Inca ruins at Pisac. This route to the ruins is for the adventurous, and you need to allow 2 -3 hours to make the trek, as the ruins are located at the top of the mountain.
