Heads Up!!! Check out this State Park from early morning until 5 PM! I give you fair warning: All State Park Gates at Mt. Diablo State Park CLOSE and are LOCKED both entering and exiting at sunset! Once you are inside the gate after sunset, be prepared to sleep in your car!

1st time at Mt. Diablo State Park. Hubby, 15yr old daughter & I decided to hike for the exercise. Ranger at gate suggested to start at Rock City. $10 fee to enter per vehicle at this entrance. The drive to this entrance had us thinking we took a wrong turn. It went through a secluded neighborhood of what seemed like private homes.
