Largest wooden dome in the world! Located on the campus of Northern Michigan University near the waterfront walking/biking trail, it’s worthwhile to see. Five acres under one roof, will seat 8000! Look up to see the impressive 781 Douglas Fir beams! What I liked most, the facility is open for the public to walk the inside perimeter.

The Superior Dome is the world's largest wooden dome, 14 stories high and made out of Douglas Firs. We "locals" are using it, free of charge, as an indoor walking track during the long cold winter months. When used for games or sales events an enterance fee is charged. Oh, the Dome is visible on pictures taken by satellites.
