Macon County Conservation District. August 2 at 9:22 AM ·. A group spotted this unique animal during a program with staff. It's an Eastern Eyed Click Beetle, native to Illinois. The large "eyes" on its back are a distinctive color pattern to deter predators, by fooling them into thinking this this a larger animal.
