EWS doesn't run against Outlook. It runs against the Exchange Server. Exchange Server has a copy of all the mailboxes that you see in everybody's outlook clients. When you connect to a mailbox in EWS using the discovery service, you are connecting to the copy of the email box that sits inside the server.

Nov 23, 2016 · The email server (Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008) is using IPv6 on the vNIC and we cannot disable it. I actually tried disabling IPv6 once and it caused boatloads of issues! Not sure if Exchange is using IPv6 root hints or not though. We do not have a AAAA record for our email server…
