Aug 16, 2012 · I was working on an SBS 2003 server that had e-mails for one user that would not deliver. They were stuck in the Local Delivery Queue in Exchange 2003 in a retry state. I tried to force connection, but they would never budge.

This one was a bitch, and since the closest thing I could find to a remedy online was to delete the store and create a new one (not bloody likely) I’ll publish the results of a call to MS Critical Support for the benefit of the masses. The problem was one user had almost 50 emails stuck in the local delivery queue.

The user can now send and receive NEWLY sent emails HOWEVER for some reason there are about 60 or so messages that were sent yesterday stuck in the Local Delivery Queue in Exchange System Manager. I tried forcing the connection but these stubborn messages will just not deliver.

Jul 30, 2013 · luckily we were able to restore the exchange server and it worked fine until this morning. all of a sudden all inbound messages started getting stuck in the "local delivery" queue. all outbound mail seems to pass through without a problem.
