Royal Mail tracking said they had attempted to deliver my parcel but no card was left when I got home. I took the tracking number and my ID and was able to collect it, although they said they "weren't supposed to do this" and that they would "make an exception" in this case.

Jan 20, 2009 · I sent a parcel to a friend who was going away for a few weeks, it was not delivered by royal mail in time. The people who live with the recipient lost the "while you were out" card so we can't go to the post sorting office to reclaim it, and i forgot to put a "return to" address on it.

I think the Royal Mail needs to do something here, this is an absolute disgrace that I can't even post a birthday card! Given the rate at which these cards go missing, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for them to track some cards through the system and find out who the culprits are.
