I think HDMI is just how the source and the receiver communicate, you just have to deal with S/PDIF and not what is after. Can't you send the whole stream and let the receiver handle it when passthrough is enabled? When the stream is DTS-HD, how do you deal with it, you just keep the core and then send it to S/PDIF?
