Käthe Wohlfahrt is the mother of all German Christmas stores. The Rothenburg store even includes a Christmas Musuem that shows decorations from past eras. The store has a wide variety of Chirstmas items, including Bavarian essentials as well. I did end up purchasing a couple of advent calendars here since they had some unique prints.

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Kathe Wohlfahrts for the first time in 1992. We returned to Rothenburg odt again this September (2017). On the top of our list was a visit to Kathe Wohlfahrts. Yes, all the items are a bit pricey but the visit is like entering a magical place that warms your heart and pleases your senses.

Kathe Wohlfahrt in Rothenburg is an experience no one should miss. It is a fantasy land of Christmas Wonder. We were in Germany in December 2002 for the Christmas Markets. (Nurnberg, Munich, Regensburg, Wurzburg, Salzburg, and of course, Rothenburg.)The quality and selection of Christmas items at Kathe Wohlfahrt is outstanding.
