Also it is ok to wait longer between pumps in the beggining as long as your getting at least 7-8 pumps a day and maybe every 4hrs may be ok. Kimrychelle Posted 3/21/10

I'm working on getting back to 5-6 pumps per day but having that freedom of 4 pumps a day and 7-8 hours of sleep is hard to give up. So just cautioning you that even though you may not see a drop now, it could happen over time.

During the first few months, the lactation consultant recommended that I pump at least every 4 hours during the night. She also suggested that I should pump at least once between 12 am and 4 am. This 12 am to 4 am time frame is when the hormone prolactin is the highest, and this middle of the night pump would help me to produce more milk.

I pump every 4 hours and I get a good 7 to 10 oz now that my LO is 6 months, it should still slowly increase even pumping every 4 hours... I needed the sleep, you will have so much more energy when you go to every 4 hours. 1 Like
