Heating degree days (HDD) are a measure of how cold the temperature was on a given day or during a period of days. For example, a day with a mean temperature of 40°F has 25 HDD. Two such cold days in a row have a total of 50 HDD for the two-day period. The West North Central division had the largest number of heating degree days in 2020.

78°F - 65°F = 13 Cooling Degree Days. Example 2: The high temperature for a particular day was 33°F and the low temperature was 25°F. The temperature mean for that day was: ( 33°F + 25°F ) / 2 = 29°F. Because the result is below 65°F: 65°F - 29°F = 36 Heating Degree Days.

T base = usually 65 ° F. Find the day's average outside temperature using this formula: T a = average outside temperature = T max + T min 2. Use the HDD formula to solve: T base - T a. Note: If the T a is equal to or above 65 ºF, there are no heating degree days for that 24-hour period, or HDD = 0.

Thank you for your reply Neal. You seemed to misunderstand my question. I am not looking for a way to calculate the heating/cooling degree days. I already have heating (or cooling does not matter) degree hours, and based on this I would like to calculate a heat loss of a certain room, for a particular hour.
