It was 1985 and Eddie Hilbert was lifeguarding at Gilgo Beach. That same year, Hilbert’s mentor and fellow Babylon Town lifeguard Lou Howard started Lifeguard Night at the Post Office. Howard also got Hilbert a bartending gig at the bar and restaurant. Today, the Tuesday night parties at the Post Office are still raging.
