There is also an `auto_thaw' option, which can be used to cause Exim to retry frozen messages after a certain time. When this is set, no message will remain on the queue for ever, because the delivery timeout will eventually be reached. Delivery failure messages that reach this timeout are discarded.

-qf is the correct option for overriding retry waits, although if you only want to flush the queue for a particular domain you should probably use "-Rf <domain>" instead.

The default configures Exim to retry email delivery every 15 minutes for 2 hours, then with intervals starting at one hour and increasing by a factor of 1.5 up to 16 hours, then every 8 hours up to 5 days. That’s right up to 5 days. Exim can keep an email in the queue for 5 days!
