I had loads of Ebay stuff I sent Signed For, which customers confirmed receipt of, which has never shown an online status of "delivered" when tracked - even months later! As I said above, I ONLY use Special Delivery or UPS, Signed For is next to useless for proof purposes.

Recorded delivery protects the seller with proof of siganture but buyers dont like paying the extra on low value items and although they agree to the cost when they bid, they will often mark your postage DSRs down - plus recorded is not fail safe as too often posties just push items through the letter box without getting them signed for - or they do get a signature but it doesnt get uploaded to the website
