We made the drive out recently to Dan Nicholas because now everything is open there again. We went a few times back when we lived in the Lexington area, but the carousel and train were closed at the time. With everything open especially, this place is really worth the drive to spend a few hours or the whole day!

Dan Nicholas campground in Rowan county was the worst camping experience I've ever had! We drove almost an hour and a half to get there and didn't even last a full 2 1/2 hours. We booked a 2 night stay on a tent site with no electricity and no water since it would save us $10 w/o those amenities.
