The delivery is part of Delta’s 100-airplane order placed in 2011 to renew its single-aisle fleet with more fuel-efficient airplanes. The Boeing 737-900 ER is the newest member of the Next-Generation 737 airplane family.

Delta ordered the Boeing 737-900(ER) three times—100 planes in August 2011, further 20 in December 2015, and 10 more in April 2017.

Extremely uncomfortable, narrow, and hard as are all 737-900 economy seats in any airline. The 900's claim to fame are large and clumsy bins and "mood lighting." Big deal. Find an Airbus!
