Oct 28, 2009 · XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 delivery delay issues The previous thread that mentioned issues of the Studio XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 being delayed or having extensive build times was locked. After a months time I had ordered mine (9/26) and it was supposed to ship on (10/22), after two delays it finally shipped out and will be received today (10/28).

Re: XPS 9000 and XPS 8000 delivery delay issues Another Canadian customer here, Edmonton AB. Ordered an XPS 9000 with MultiTouch monitor on Feb 2, 2010, EDD was March 2, Received two delay email notices, then it shipped on 10 March 2010 and arrived on 15 March.

Big mistake! I was actually pleasantly surprised when my original order of an XPS 9000 arrived only a week late on Dec 19 when I placed the order at the end of November. However, The computer was damaged either at the dell packaging facility or during delivery, so I had to send it back.

If this is the new eighth generation XPS Dell announced in January, note that with all new models, production delays are very common. It's not unusual for the lead time on them to be more than a month - even two or three months. If you need something quickly, buy the 9560 model - or wait for the next generation; you can't buy what they can't build.
