Sep 12, 2008 · I have just configured our SMTP virtual server to send NDRs to me. Since I've verified through message tracking in Exchange that delivery did in fact fail, but no email address was entered in "send NDR reports to" field, so nobody ever got them. Once I can get my hands on a Delivery Status Notification (Failed) message I will post the results.

If so, below are the possible reasons why a delay occurs with the delivery of emails: Email traffic on the server causing the sending/receiving of emails to travel much slower than the usual receiving time.
