Per eBay's buyer protection, you are responsible not just for mailing the item but for getting it delivered to the buyer. And ceasing communication would be the *absolute worst* thing you can do. Because once the buyer gives up and files an "item not received" claim, if you can't provide tracking showing it was delivered to them, eBay will automatically give them a refund.
