In 2021 with the lighthouse reopened for climbing we jumped at the opportunity. As of August 2021 you can logon to recreation.gov starting at 7am to get same day tickets to climb the lighthouse. Climbing starts at 9am and only 8 people are allowed to climb per 30 minute slot.

2021 I am a volunteer at Bodie Island Lighthouse and we ARE open for Climbiing! Seven days a week. Climbs are every thirty minutes from 9AM until 5:30PM. Tickets MUST BE PURCHASED ONLINE. Go to recreation.gov and search "Bodie Island Lighthouse Tickets" to do that. And please read all the information there.

There are no advance ticket sales for regular climbs. Ticket sales begin at 9:00 am and climbs begin at 9 am, running every 10 minutes with a limit of 30 visitors per climb. Ticket sales close at 4:25 pm. Ticket holders should arrive at the base of the lighthouse five minutes prior to their ticketed climb time.
