Be prepared for a lot of driving, about 4.5 hours each way. If the weather had been better, we would have been able to do a few short hikes, but it was just too windy and snowy on the day of my trip. The night tour at the right time of year also offers the chance of seeing the Aurora.

In the month of April, 2013, we did a tour of Alaska from Anchorage up to Fairbanks and down to Portage. In Fairbanks we booked a day trip to the Arctic Circle with Jim of Alaskan Arctic Turtle Tours. What a fun day that was!! Due to recent snow the roads were a little comprised for the van so we took his heavy duty truck.
