    What I've seen (Kansas, Missouri, Texas) is a Master's degree required (any subject) in addition to 18+ graduate credit hours in the subject you're hoping to teach. i.e. I could have a Master of Science in Counseling/SpEd + 18 grad hours from an MFA program and I'd be able to teach undergrad Art courses at a comm college (at some institutions I've looked at in the states I listed above.)
