Oakland Zoo is wonderful. I've been to both SF Zoo (using free company passes) and Oakland Zoo (getting Groupon family deal). You can't go wrong with either. In any case he's why I love Oakland Zoo. 1) It's fairly compact compared to SF. That means less tiresome for you and getting to everything. 2) Doable in 2/2.5 hours.
