I really like the disc 2 of Xenogears. I feel that a full realized Xenogears with the supposed full content would easily take like 120 hours to finish the game, and we would get burned on the dungeons/combat system by them. Would even call the rushed disc 2 a blessing in disguise. I think he meant Shevat, not Solaris.

Tldr: disc 2 is a bonus to wrap the game up. One of my very first posts on Reddit was on how I thought that Xenogears disc 2 actually works very well in context. Basically, up until the end of disc 1 the game is a normal JRPG, where you assume that you're working towards a goal in pretty standard fashion.

Because of how faulty disc 2 of Xenogears is, it makes this game one of the prime candidates for a full blown remake, but that outcome is still quite unlikely. Xenogears is quite a widely available game through digital stores. It was a PSOne Classic on the Playstation 3's store so its quite inexpensive to buy and play for that route.

Xenogears does have good cutscene direction, so that would have added to the story. If disc 2 was fleshed out, this game would be absolutely epic. Not that it already isn't, because Xenogears is my favorite game by far, but it would have been that much more awesome.

I don't know, "ominous" from there on. And I attribute that exactly to HOW disc 2 told the story. Intended or not, in the end it worked not just pretty well, but PERFECTLY given the game Xenogears is. If this game is ever remade (which I don't think it should), I wouln't want disc 2 to be changed AT ALL.

Xenogears without disc 2 may have still had most of the finished product's gameplay in it, but would've been less than half of the experience it turned out to be. *I started Xenosaga Episode 3 at first because of Xenogears, but unlike Ep. 1 and 2, I kept playing it because I liked it. 11. Share.
