No matter where we go, we always end up at Winzerwald, and this year was no exception. Located in the middle of nowhere overlooking I-64, Winzerwald is a quaint little place that holds no more than 20 or so people at a time.

Winzerwald is only 35 minutes south of French Lick..an easy drive for wine lovers! We just opened a restaurant with food and wine flights, meat and cheese plates, flatbreads, big Bavarian pretzels and more. Plus live music every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Winzerwald is German for “winemakers of the forest”. Nutcrackers, originally from southern Germany like the winery owner’s ancestors, were chosen as the winery’s logo and label design. Two new vineyards are located along I-64 at the winery and the 30-year old vineyard is nestled along the Ohio River on the family’s fifth generation farm.

Every wine was excellent and we purchased wine to open there and also wine to take with us. Tina was the wonderful, friendly woman who assisted us, and she was an absolute delight! She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! After leaving there we visited other, larger wineries but none compared to the personal, family feel of Winzerwald.
