In 1976, Charleswood Library joined the Winnipeg Public Library system, and an expansion of the building completed in 1983 brought its size to 4,914 sq. ft. - one of the smallest branches in the system. In 2014, work began on a new 13,215 sq. ft. library. The new Charleswood Library opened on January 19, 2015.
