    Even tho the elder Phyllis shouldn't have came at her like that, I'm glad Whitney despite being a kid didn't back down BUT also remained cool/calm in the situation. I think being Cissy's daughter helped her deal with strong female personalities like that. I bet Phyllis said 'well damn this kid might be going places after all' and she embraced her.
