I was an intern at the downtown Seattle association when my boss, Michael Hamilton, suggested a carousel in westlake park. It was 1987 and the idea was to bring people downtown and not avoid the place because of the bus tunnel construction. The first carousel was a real antique, a 1911 model built in Ilion, NY. The people loved it.
