Re: Watts per cell to Amp Hours. « Reply #1 on: January 11, 2015, 11:49:15 AM ». 12 volts x 40 amps is 480 watts. 15 minutes is 1/4 hour. 1/4 hour x 40 amps is 10 amp-hours (at rated 40-amp | 500-watt discharge rate) The amp-hour rating would go up if the discharge rate was lower. Logged.

21W @ 15min-rate to 1.67V per cell @25°C (77°F) I suspect that means it can provide 21W for 15 minutes if 1.67V/cell is usable by your load. A normal Lead-Acid battery when fully charged has something like 2.1 V/cell.

Let's assume that you have been able to integrate the voltage over the testing duration and compute the power (intuitively 2V * 20 A * 5h = 200Wh). The W/C rating in this case is 40 W/C (i.e. 2V * 20A) for a 5 hour test. - Let's imagine that that cell is used (as the only battery) in an UPS where the ON (main power down) time is not hours, but mainly minutes, as the UPS needs to power a rack of servers …

Watt-hours = watts * hours / efficiency = 1250 / 0.85 = 1470 watt-hours. Since watts = amps * volts divide the watt hours by the voltage of the battery to get amp-hours of battery storage. Amp-hours (at 12 volts) = watt-hours / 12 volts = 1470 / 12 = 122.5 amp-hours.

Convert Watt hour to Amp hour (Wh to Ah) Insert Watts-hour (Wh) and voltage (V) below and click on Calculate to obtain Amp-hours (Ah). Wh. V. Ah. Formula is (Wh)/ (V) = (Ah). For example, if you have a 10Wh battery rated at 5V, the current is 10Wh / 5V = 2Ah. Other Conversions.

To work out the total battery capacity required to run this equipment for twenty hours we need to establish how many AH we require. Watts / Volts = Amps 500W / 12V = 41.67A. We’d like the appliances to run for 20 Hours. A x H = AH 41.67A x 20 Hours = 833.40AH 8.33 AH = 8 x 100AH Batteries
