Apr 27, 2006 · I have had 3 kids.. and I was told by the Doctors that we had to wait 2 weeks, not 40 days. I dont know where you got the 40 days from, but it is 2 weeks. It is because your stitches need to heal, and your body has to also. YOu have to wait 6 weeks to go back to work, but i dont really know many mothers that have waited that long.
