The sites are not scrunched up next to one another which lets you get more of that sense that you're alone with nature. Not only are the sites separated by distance, but there's a lot of trees and stuff between the sites as well.

Ventana is a wonderful - but busy - campground. The location is ideal - quick access to all the wonderfulness of Big Sur, but it is also a large and popular site and can get noisy when packed. Highly recommend asking for one of the further out campsites (where you have to walk from your parked car just a few feet to your site).

Camping in Big Sur at Ventana is $$ but still, it’s cheaper than a hotel in the area. Big Sur cabins are pricey as well! Showers cost $2. A big gripe among campers is that you have to pay $2 for 5 minutes of water at the shower. Many feel that because the campsite price is so inflated, showers should be included.
