The Iphone 4 does NOT support SMS delivery reports and that is the problem not VF. Other networks have an older technology in place that allows you to add a prefix to a number and get a delviery report that way but VF does not have that facility.

Getting SMS delivery reports on the iPhone 4 on the Three (3) Network? ... Not possible as the iPhone does not do delivery reports, and there is no alternative GSM code like O2 uses. ... There is actually a way as I get delivery reports on my iPhone 4 with Vodafone without using codes. However your phone does need to be jailbroken.
