It depends on when you submitted the order online. All delivery windows are in local time. Orders placed by 12 PM will be delivered between 1 PM - 4 PM or 4PM -7 PM. Orders placed by 3 PM will be delivered between 4 PM - 7 PM. Orders placed by 12 PM Sundays will be delivered between 1 PM – 4 PM.

Next day cut off is 3:30pm. 4:30pm However that does not include Saturday delivery. It is the next BUSINESS day. No you can not pick up at FedEx until there has been one attempt to deliver.

So yes you got overnight because it was 1 day from processing, and you get it the next day. Sorry if it isn't something you like to hear. If you ordered it on a Friday before 4PM you would have gotten it Monday as Saturday delivery is extra(set by the shipping companies) which you didn't have an option for and didn't pay for because of it.

However, I do not extend the same feelings towards verizon in this case. Verizon did not ask fedex to ship this as overnight but some inadvertent accident caused an unforeseen delay. They shipped it 2-day service. Presumably, people who pay $12.99 for their "free" overnight shipping do, in fact, receive overnight shipping service from fedex.
