This reservoir is now quite accessible for someone on foot. One can walk along the Old Upper Thomson Park Connector to reach the main gate of the reservoir which is opened at 6 am. The walk is about 15 mins starting from near the Casuarina Road.

A higher dam was then constructed upstream of the existing dam in 1970.
