Successful completion of the program requirements enables the counselor to be recommended for licensure in school counseling from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. A minimum of 12 credit hours is required for the post-master’s certificate. All coursework applied to a certificate must be completed within five years.

Students take CSLG 8443 beginning in their second semester of doctoral studies, for 3 consecutive semesters (Spring, Fall, Spring, etc.). They enroll for 1 credit hour each semester and accumulate a total of 3 credit hours over this 3 semester sequence. A minimum of 200 clock hours is required over the 3 semesters.
