The U-Drop Inn Cafe is a tourist attraction in Shamrock, TX. It is not a working diner, but they do serve free tea and coffee. The diner is step up like a museum. You can get your photo take in the booth that Elvis used to sit in when it was a working diner. Friendly staff and great gift shop for Route 66 souvenirs.

Just east of McLean lies Shamrock, home to one of the most impressive examples of Route 66 architecture in Texas. The Tower Station and Café is a one-of-a-kind 1936 Art Deco landmark that once housed the U-Drop Inn. Reaching high above the rooftop, the distinctive pedestals advertised food, gas and lodging — three essential items for Route 66 travelers.

The name "U-Drop Inn" was the winning entry in a contest, submitted by an eight-year-old schoolboy. When it opened it was the only cafe within 100 miles, and advertised itself as "the swankiest of the swank eating places." Tower Service Station and U-Drop Inn slowly fell into disrepair and was repossessed by a bank in 1997.
