Just as a little FYI, once the seller drops off your package at the post office there is nothing more they can do as it is out of their hands. Scanning is done by people and sometimes they can hit the wrong button and the wrong message appears.

Technically, it's not really "Out for delivery" at that post office because of course your address would not match any carrier's route, but your package was scanned in upon arrival, and then when sorting is done for the morning, the status of all packages taken in that day is updated automatically to be Out for Delivery.

Sep 02, 2011 · The USPS 'out for delivery' scan is automatic, once all the mail has been sorted out for the day. They probably didn't realize yet that they had a package meant for another state. Once they realize it should be scanned 'missent' and should be sent on it's way to the correct location.

Feb 23, 2018 · USPS is notoriously hard to get in touch with so I don’t expect answers there. It seems like the most likely explanation is that the tracking number got attached to the wrong package (fell off the box or something).
