William Patrick Williams (ca. 1818-1898) and his wife Elizabeth (Boles) (ca. 1822-1899) migrated to Texas from Mississippi during the Civil War. The U.S. Army chose the patch of land on Mukewater Creek as the site of Camp Colorado in the 1850s but the camp lasted less than a year at that location.
